Genealogists
are great at documenting our ancestors’ lives but not so great documenting our
own. I’ll write about what I’ve been doing the past week. This idea came from
Randy Seaver of Genea-Musing, who started this meme.
I have completed twenty-four
(24) weeks of semi- “lock down” due
to Covid-19. I went out a little more this week (mask on): I attended training
at the Acalanes Adult School for the new program Canvas, delivered empty jars
to Jacqueline, weeded with the Native Plant Team, did phenology at the meadow, and
visited with brother- and sister-in-law at the local brew pub. I also got a haircut!
It is still a bit smoky outside, with some days better than others. At least
the hot weather has passed us by for a while.

Client
Work/Presentations:
Worked
on the client report, finishing up the last of the citations and making sure
citation were consistent. Sent in invoice for August. Will proof-read paper
copy in a day or so.
Volunteer
Work:
Attended
the Remote Learning Committee on Monday. They are making great progress on
creating structure for our Zoom classes.
Own
Work:
Worked
some on the Gorrell KDP, but put it aside to finish up some timely items, such
as the handout for the newspaper talk I’m giving this coming week, and writing
up minutes for CCCHS and Rails to the Bay convention.
Other:
We
had a nice visit with Norman’s brother, Brian and his wife, Linda, at the Del
Cielo Brewery in downtown Martinez. They have a kitchen now, so we ordered food
and sat outside around a barrel, keeping our masks on unless we were eating.
I
attended Book Club on Sunday and shared the new book listed below. Lots of
great books were shared by everyone!
I
finished the following books this week:
- Kansas Trouble
- Atlas of American Migration
I
am still reading:
- The Color of Law
- White Heat: The New Warfare, 1914-1918
I
started a new book which arrived this week: Send Us a Lady Physician: Women Doctors in
America 1835-1920, edited by Ruth J. Abram.
