Sullivan Cousins

In 2004, John Quigley retired as a judge for Napa County, California, and his six living cousins attended his retirement party. He was the son of Ethel Sullivan and Vir Quigley. Pictured from left to right: William “Bill” Hork, son of Anne Sullivan and William Cyril Hork; Margaret Patterson, daughter of Loretto Sullivan and James Patterson; John Quigley; son of Ethel Sullivan and Vir Quigley; Mary Brehaut, daughter of Loretto Sullivan and James Patterson; Lorene Waldron, daughter of Anne Sullivan and William Cyril Hork; Virginia Gertridge, daughter of Anne Sullivan and William Cyril Hork; and June Stewart, daughter of Anne Sullivan and William Cyril Hork. Loretta, Anne, and Ethel were the daughters of John H. Sullivan and Anna M. Gleeson. Their two other children were Helena “Nellie” Goe and John Cyril Sullivan. Only Nellie had children and they were deceased by 2004. #52Ancestors-Week 29: Cousins This is my eighth year working on this year-long prompt, hosted by Amy Johnson Crow (...

Davey Cousins: Some Immigrated to America, Others to Australia

Researching our family trees brings me great joy when I find extended cousins. The best way to discover these third, fourth, and even fifth cousins is to put your genealogy out there. I do that by having a tree on Ancestry and by writing about family on my two blogs. I have two trees on Ancestry. One is private and is a complete tree that I uploaded several years ago. The other tree is a public tree of my direct lines to be used for DNA matching. I should probably upload a new private tree because I have made changes and additions. I have also uploaded a direct line tree for my husband’s DNA matching. Cousin Bait I primarily use Ancestry to access the wonderful records and only occasionally look at other members’ family trees. But that can be a mistake. Looking at their trees helps you connect with cousins, cousins who might have photos, documents, letters, and other interesting items about the family. Back in 2019, I reached out to a member who had Davey names in her tree. I a...

52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks – Week 38: Cousins

This is my second year working on this year-long prompt, hosted by Amy Johnson Crow . I will write each week in one of my two blogs, either Mam-ma’s Southern Family or at My Trails Into the Past . I have enjoyed writing about my children’s ancestors in new and exciting ways. Happiness is when all the cousins are together in a photo. My husband’s mother’s cousins are all in this one and it is nicely labeled. They are from the Nilsen Family. I also have a photo of my cousins taken in our home on the occasion of my sister’s baptism in 1965. My youngest sister wasn’t born yet, so one cousin is missing. Copyright © 2019 by Lisa S. Saturday Night Genealogy Fun - A Favorite Family Photograph

It's Saturday Night , time for more Genealogy Fun !! For this week's mission (should you decide to accept it), I challenge you to: 1)  Show us one of your favorite photographs of your family - a group, yourself, your mom, your dad, your sibling(s), your grandparents, etc.  Tell us about it - the date, the event, the setting, the persons in the photograph. 2)  Share it on your own blog, in a comment on this blog, or on Facebook. I have many favorite photos and hope to someday put together some family books so I can use them. In particular, I like this one photo. I think because it has that hippie and groovy vibe. It was one of the last times we visited our cousins as a complete family. After this, we would sometimes have other activities or job responsibilities and we couldn’t always go together as a family to other cousin events. These are my parents, Lea and Bill and their children: Lisa, Steve, Jon, Danna, Sabrina, and Renee. The occas...
