Which ancestor(s) are at the top of your research list, and why?
2)
Share your answer in a blog post of your own, in a comment to this blog

Thank you, Linda!]
Here’s
Mine:
My side of the family:
The
parents of Susanna Raduntz, wife of Vincent Siewert. They lived in
SchneidemĂ¼hl, Prussia. The church records are not online and I don’t think they
go back very far. We found the parents of Vincent, but not Susanna.
The
parents of both Jeremiah Sullivan and his wife, Mary Sheehan, who
lived in County Cork before coming to the U.S. sometime in the 1860s. Their
names are so common.
On
my mother’s side, I have Samuel Johnston and his wife, Elizabeth
McCormack. The family was first found in Yalobusha County, Mississippi. The
children were born somewhere in Alabama and the parents somewhere in South
Carolina. I’m not even sure of her true
surname as I have found no marriage record.
Would
also like to know the origins of Benjamin W. Jones who married Amanda A
Haley in Rankin Co, Mississippi. He claimed to be born in Virginia.
Norman's side of the family:
His
GG-grandparents, Anders Peter Johansson and Anna Larsdotter of Östergötland
län, Sweden, have no parents in my database. I’m not sure if I ever tried to
hunt for them.
Now to print this out and post on the bulletin board, for the next time I'm bored and need something to do!
When searching for “Jeremiah” in Irish records, be sure to also check “Diarmaid” and “Diarmuid” (the Irish names Anglicized as “Jeremiah”).
ReplyDeleteThanks for that clue!
DeleteThis looks like a tough list on which to make any headway. Check into ArkivDigital to research Swedish records. It's possible to get just a one month subscription for a reasonable amount.
