Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It's Saturday Night again -
Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
Here is our assignment from Randy Seaver of Genea-Musings:
1) We all wish that we knew more about our most elusive ancestors - the ones we might not know the surname for, or the one who was probably adopted, changed his name for some reason, or lived through war or a natural disaster.
2) Be a time traveler - where would you go, who would you speak with, what would you ask them?
Here's mine:
My paternal tree is a bit pathetic. I don’t know the parents of my 2x-great-grandparents, Jeremiah Sullivan and Mary Sheehan of County Cork, Ireland. Some questions I would ask of them:
1. When and where did you marry?
2. When and where were your children born?
3. Who were your parents?
4. When and where were your parents born, married, and died?
5. What did they do for a living?
6. When and where were your grandparents born, married, and died?
7. What did they do for a living?
8. When did you come to America? Did everyone come together or separately? If separately, who came when?
Another set of 3x-great-grandparents, Christoph Siewert and Anna Marianna Ewald were from Posen. Four of their children came to the United States and I have the records of their departure and arrival. I want to know:
1. Who were your parents? When and where were they born, married, died?
2. Where did they come from before moving to Posen?
3. What brought them to Posen?
4. What church did they attend in Posen?
5. When and where were their grandparents born, married, and died?
Vincent Sievert’s wife, Susanna Raduntz, was also from Posen. She and her sister, Wilhelmina, came to the United States--Susanna came with Vincent, and Wilhelmina came two years later.
1. Who were their parents? When and where were their parents born, married, and died?
2. Were there other siblings?
3. Who were their grandparents? When and where were they born, married, and died?
4. What were their occupations?
5. If they went to Posen, when and why did they?
When creating a fan chart of my ancestry, much of this side is blank. It would be nice to get my ancestry out to the seventh generation on the Sullivan, Sheehan, Sievert, and Raduntz lines.

That sounds like three separate time travel trips to me! I hope you get a bargain rate when you do three for one!
ReplyDeleteWell, yes, I guess it is, but I was thinking time-traveling back to see my paternal ancestors was one trip.
DeleteYour questions are much like mine. It would be so much fun to be able to "drop in" for a short time and have all our questions answered. We might even be able to bring a camera with us and take photos of ancestors for whom we have none. Or would that be changing history too much?!!
ReplyDeletePerhaps I can take my daughter, the artist, with me and she can sketch my ancestors.
