Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It's Saturday Sunday Night again
-
Time for some more Genealogy
Fun!!
Our mission from Randy Seaver of Genea-Musings is to:
1) Did you have good genealogy fun this past week? Did you add to your family Tree? Did you make a great discovery? Did you try something new? Did you make family history?
Here's mine:
Well, this is not Saturday night but rather Sunday night. I was on a very late train towards Chicago and was pulled off at Galesburg and put on a bus to Indianapolis because we would not have made our connecting train. We got in late, ate dinner, and then crashed. We got up early Sunday morning and drove to Collinsville to catch a tourist train, and I am now back at our hotel. This hotel is cool, built into the old train station and track area.
Anyway. My genealogy fun this week wasn’t any research finds, but finally having the time to enter genealogy data into RootsMagic. You see, while on the train from Los Angeles to Chicago, we traveled over vast parts of the country without cell service or internet. Oh, how terrible! But actually, it’s great. It gave me time to enter data without the ability to stop and search new bright shiny objects. Instead, I opened a Word doc and made a list of things to search for in the future that came to mind while entering data.
When I wasn’t entering data, I began to write the genealogy of my great-great-grandfather, Reuben M. Johnston. Many more things went on that to-do list. Writing tends to bring out the holes in our research.
Tomorrow, I begin my three-day research trip in facilities in Indianapolis and Jeffersonville, Indiana. Yeah!
You made excellent use of your lack in internet service. Hope you have even more fun as you research on this trip. Safe travels!
