SNGF -- Where Were Your Ancestors 150 Years Ago?

Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:

It's Saturday Night again -

Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!

Our assignment from Randy Seaver of Genea-Musings is to:

1)  Determine where your ancestral families were in May 1876 -- 150 years ago.

2)  List them, their family members, their birth years, and their residence location (as close as possible).

Here’s mine:
I tried to get RootsMagic to put out a report, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it. I had to work this out by hand. Since I research both my lines and my husband’s lines (or more simply put, my children’s lines), I’ll list both sides of the family. The bold names are direct lines.

Husband’s Paternal Line

My husband’s 2x-great grandfather, Amos Gorrell, Jr. (1837-1928) was living in Cooper County, Missouri, with his wife, Catherine E. Shotts (1835-1918), and children, Louella R (1866-1938), Linnie Sarah (1868-1950), Joseph N (1869-1960), and Ada Leah (1872-1967), and Catherine’s son, May M. Sayre (1860-1927).

Amos Gorrell, Sr. (1804-1890) was living in Ross County, Ohio, with his 2nd wife, Sarah Monroe. His other son, Joseph Wollam Gorrell (1839-1914) was living in either in Ross County or Green County, Ohio, with his wife Eliza Alice Shotts.

Catherine E. Shotts’ mother, Mary Ann Bishop (1806-1896) was living in Ross County.

My husband’s great-grandfather, Frederick Henry Davey (1853-1915) was living in Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana, perhaps with his parents, Thomas Davey (1807-1886) and Mary Nicholas (1811-1893). He was not yet married.

Frederick’s future wife, Matilda Wollenweber (1859-1885), was living with her mother, Philippina M. Voehringer (1834-1913) in Jeffersonville, Clark County, Indiana.

Philippina’s mother, Maria Agnes Reiff (1811-1898), was living in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Husband’s Maternal Line

His great-grandfather, Nils Malkolm Nilsen (1865-1937), was still living in Sweden, with his parents, Jonas Nilsson (1839-1915) and Marta Larsdotter (1838-1907). Nils’ wife, Hulda Charlotte Anderson-Carlson (1868-1924) was also still living in Sweden. None of these people thought about the Centennial, I’m sure.

His great-grandfather, Pehr Alfred (Andersson) Lundquist (1856-1932) was living in Iowa, either in Jefferson County or Montgomery County, with his parents, Anders (Eliasson) Lundquist (1821-1882) and Cajsa Florine Pehrsdotter (1812-1885). Pehr Alfred’s future wife, Mathilda Lovisa Eriksson-Holm (1871-1942), was still living in Sweden.

Lisa’s Paternal Line

My great-grandfather, Johan “John” Anton Hork (1843-1906) was living in Aurora, Kane County, Illinois, with his wife, Julia Ann Sievert (1854-1928), and children, Maria Catharine (1873-1895) and Ida Marie (1875-1950). Julia’s parents, Vincent Sievert (1823-1890) and Susanna Raduntz (1832-1911) were living in Joliet, Will County, Illinois.

My great-grandfather, John H. Sullivan (1854-1932), lived somewhere unknown in the United States. His parents, Jeremiah Sullivan (1811-1888) and Mary Sheehan (1822-1892) were living in Todd County, Minnesota. John’s future wife, Anna Marie Gleeson (1860-1912) was living in Carleton County, Ontario, Canada with her parents, John Gleeson (1835-1915) and Margaret Tierney (1835-1920).

Lisa’s Maternal Line

Johnston (1841-1924) was living in Texas, either in Titus County or Comanche County, with his first wife, Catharine Skull (1851-bef 1879), children Martha, Lola, and Ocia. His mother, Elizabeth “Betsy” McCormack (1814-1891) may have been living with him. His future wife, Olivia Jane Jones (1859-1914) was living with her mother, Amanda A. Haley (1827-1904) in Comanche County.

My 2x-great-grandfather, Peter H. Hutson (1853-1930) was living in an unknown place, perhaps on his own. His future wife, Sarah H Selman (1858-1916), may have been living in Leon County with her parents, Greenlee Bean Selman (1820-1888) and Amanda D Oldham (1822-1880).

My 2x-great-grandfather, William Carlton Lancaster (1873-1946) was living with his parents, George Wilson Lancaster (1839-1919) and Martha Jane Polly (1855-1932) in Rockwall County, Texas. George’s mother, Elizabeth S. Neel (1811-1881) was living with George. Martha’s parents, Nathan H.O. Polly (1820-1902) and Lydia Margaret (1828-1912) were living in Rockwall County. William’s future wife, Martha Jane Coor (1873-1942) was living with her parents, James Madison Coor (1833-1889) and Melissa Ann Welch (1840-1876) in Copiah County, Mississippi.

My 3x-great-grandmother, Elizabeth Nixon (1810-aft 1876) was living in Faulkner County, Arkansas. Her son, Ebenezer Loveless (1851-1919) was living with his wife, Eliza A. Rodgers (1854-1907) in Faulkner County, Arkansas, with children, Emma (1874-1880) and George Alonzo (1876-1948).
