SNGF -- How Many Autosomal DNA Matches Descend From Your Eight 2nd-Great-Grandparents?

Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It's Saturday Night again -
Time for some more Genealogy Fun!!
Our assignment from Randy Seaver of Genea-Musings today is to:
1)  How many autosomal DNA matches do you have descended from your eight 2nd-great-grandparents (they would be your third cousins)?  Do you know how they are related to you?  Have you corresponded with them?  Why are your numbers high or low?

2)  Share the number of your autosomal DNA matches for each of your 2GGP, and answer my questions above on your own blog, on Facebook or other social media, or in a Comment on this blog.  Share the link to your post on this blog, so readers can respond.

Here's mine:
The number of autosomal DNA matches I have on Ancestry, as seen on Thru-Lines for each 2nd-great-grandparent pair, is as follows:

Paternal side:
Joseph Heinrich Horoch (1804-1857) and Maria Catherine Trösster (1813-1874) have 2 matches. They are both descendants of Urselle Hork (1892-1951) and are second cousins, once removed.

Vincent Sievert (1823-1890) & Susanna Raduntz (1832-1911) have 2 matches. These are the same 2 from above.

Jeremiah Sullivan (1811-1888) & Mary Sheehan (1822-1892) have 11 matches. Five matches through their son, Eugene A Sullivan (1851-1922), four through their son & my great-grandfather, John H Sullivan (1854-1932), and 2 matches from their son, Jeremiah Sullivan (1859-1926).

John Gleeson (1835-1915) & Margaret Tierney (1835-1920) have 8 matches. Four matches are through my great-grandmother Anna Maria Gleeson (1860-1912), and 4 are through John James Gleeson (1861-1934).

Maternal side:
Reuben Mack Johnston (1841-1924) & Olivia Jane Jones (1859-1914) have 13 matches. Three matches through his son, Thomas N. Johnston (1885-1951), five through their daughter, Edna Mae Johnston (1890-1976), and 5 through their son, Woodie A Johnston (1892-1966).

Peter H. Hutson (1853-1930) & Sarah Helena Selman (1858-1916) have 10 matches. Two matches from daughter, Willie May Hutson (1881-1968), one from daughter Annie Pearl Hutson (1883-1974), three from daughter Nell Hutson (1888-1919), two from daughter Coreta Hutson (1894-1965), and two from son, Luther E Hutson (1896-1985).

William Carl Lancaster (1873-1946 & Martha Jane Coor (1873-1942) have 7 matches. One from grandson, Rayburn D Lancaster (1920-2004), 4 from daughter, Josephine (1898-1983), and two from daughter, Pearl C (1907-1966).

Ebenezer Loveless (1851-1929) & Eliza A Rodgers (1854-1907) have 14 matches. One from son, George L Loveless (1877-1948), one from son James A Loveless (1879-1933), 4 from son, Thomas M Loveless (1883-1960), one from son, John Cecil Loveless (1885-1957), one from son Robert J Loveless (1889-1952), one from son, Zachariah Loveless ( 1891-1970), four from son William H Loveless (1894-1998), and one from daughter Lela Ann Loveless (1896-1951), who is my second cousin, as we share her as our great-grandmother.

I have a total of 23 matches on my paternal side and 44 matches on my maternal side. I have far fewer matches for my father's side than my mother's. I am glad we did this exercise. I had not looked at Thru-Lines in this detail before.

  1. You had a good number of known matches! That's great!

    1. I have enough on my mother's side to begin writing proof arguments and supplementing with DNA.

  2. You are very lucky you have at least a couple of matches from each set of ancestors. At least you have something to work with.
