We are in our fourth week of our 27-day trip, spending time this past week in Chicago (for a few hours) and then in Colorado. Our first day was spent in Denver, and we walked to the Capitol building for a tour. We then began the Special Interest Tours trip with an opening dinner. This trip was about riding tourist trains in Colorado. We rode the Galloping Goose at the Colorado Railroad Museum, the Georgetown Loop Railway, Leadville and Southern Railway, Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway, Royal Gorge Route Railroad, Cumbres & Toltec Railroad, and the Durango & Silverton Railroad. We had great weather except for the snow at the top of Pike's Peak. Really enjoyed the trip. We ride Amtrak home on Monday.

I am reading:

  • A Lesson in Secrets by Jacqueline Winspear—FINISHED!
  • The Case of the Missing Brontë by Robert Barnard
  • Miss Merkel: Mord in der Uckermark by David Safier (for German class—up to Chap 35)

Photos for this week.

Genealogists are great at documenting our ancestors’ lives, but not so great at documenting our own. I’ll write about what I’ve been doing the past week. This idea came from Randy Seaver of Genea-Musing, who started this meme.

    1. It was! When we got there, the snow was blowing horizontally and we couldn't see inches in front of us.
