Calling all Genea-Musings Fans:
It's Saturday Night again

Time for some more Genealogy
Fun!!
1) If you have your family tree research in a Genealogy Management Program (GMP), whether a computer software program or an online family tree, figure out how to find how many persons, places, sources, etc. are in your database (hint: the Help button is your friend!)
2) Tell us which GMP you use, and how many persons,
places, sources, etc. are in your database(s) today in a blog post of your own,
in a comment to this blog post, or in a Facebook comment.
NOTE: WE last did this in November 2021.
Here's mine:
Like Randy, I use RootsMagic 10. I saw that I had an update
to make, so I took care of it before checking the statistics.

I hope this can be read. I could not figure out how to make it any larger in RootsMagic before taking a screenshot.
In 2021, we were using version 6, so the database properties list looked different. A comparison of some of the data points:

Adding 62 families and 162 people makes sense. I’m happy to see that I have added 102 sources and nearly 500 citations. That’s an improvement. Many of my facts are still sourced in the notes field.
I’m puzzled about adding 2000 more places to the database. That cannot be right. Plus, there are 52 places not being used. There are also 104 sources without citations. And 7 citations not being used. I need to investigate that.
The sources without citations are for specific death, baptism, or marriage records for a particular person. I did this in the very beginning when using PAF, and I have not corrected them. These are named, for example, “Death Certificate for Unnamed Baby Nilsen” or “Birth Record of Harry Polly Lancaster.”
So, what I’ve done is run the reports, printed them out, so
I can go in and try to fix the unused places and citations. It’s probably good
to do this every 3-4 years.
Your statistics, like Randy's are quite robust. You will see my paltry list from RM7 tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that the no. 1 person in the database is my daughter, so it really encompasses two families.
