Outside activities included a trip to the History Center, a visit to Pacheco Marsh, meeting with friends at a restaurant in Orinda, getting teeth cleaned, and working at the Train Club.
Genealogy
Genealogy Volunteer/Work:
At the History Center this week, I worked on the donations, entering them into
the accession book and then into PastPerfect. I took minutes at our monthly
board meeting. I also helped a researcher locate some items.
Genealogy Meetings:
I
attended the Kinseekers NARA SIG, the APG Writers SIG, and the certification
peer group.
Genealogy Writing/Research:
I did no research or writing this week except for the blog posts below.

Loveless: Sorting Out 7 in my Tree
For the theme of “the name’s the same,” I discussed
the seven women in my tree who are named Elizabeth Loveless.

– Who’s Number 100 in Your Ahnentafel?
I reported on three ancestors with the Ahnentafel
number 100: my daughter, who is number one in my tree’s ancestor, and the number
100 in my line and my husband’s line. It all turns out to be our maternal 4x-great-grandfather.
Browsing
Instead of Searching at Fold3.
For Webinar Wednesday,
I described how browsing at Fold3 helped me locate some Spanish-American War
documents for a collateral line of my husband’s. This post was popular with Friday’s
Family History Finds and Best
of Genea-Blogs.

Other:
We hiked this week in
Tilden Park on the Nimitz Way, a paved trail, since it had been raining earlier
in the week. On Monday, I birded with the Mt. Diablo Bird Alliance group at
Pacheco Marsh. Later, I had lunch with two friends from German classes at DVC.
Lastly, I was present at the Walnut Creek Model Railroad Society weekend show,
working as a trackwalker at the set-up position.

Photos for this week. Shots from the birding trip and the hike, where I saw lots of different kinds of mushrooms.
Genealogists are great at documenting our ancestors’ lives, but not so great at documenting our own. I’ll write about what I’ve been doing the past week. This idea came from Randy Seaver of Genea-Musing, who started this meme.
