It's Saturday Night -
time for more Genealogy Fun!
Our mission from Randy Seaver of Genea-Musing, is to:
1) We all have a family history. What did you
and your family do in 1997?
2) Share your answers with us in your own blog, in
a Facebook or Instagram post, or in the comments on this blog post.
Please leave a link to anything you post elsewhere in a comment.
Here's mine:
I rarely did a Christmas letter, so I have to look at the
photo albums to get a hint of what we did during the year 1997.
Our oldest daughter was in second grade in Mrs. Davis’ class
and the youngest in kindergarten in Mrs. Jones’ class, both attending John Muir
Elementary School.
I was working at the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART)
as an Employee Development Specialist (EDS), training mostly new train
operators. Norman worked at County Quarry Products running the rock crushing
and asphalt plants.
I tried to volunteer once a week helping in either of my
daughter’s classes when I could. I could do that whenever I taught classes in
the afternoon or evening and could help out in the morning. I drove students once
on a field trip to the Build a Bear factory in San Francisco.
Photos definitely gave me hints on activities. In the
spring, Elizabeth had her first communion at St. Catherine of Siena Church. They also dressed up for Easter.
My girl scout co-leaders and I took a trip to Old Sacramento on Amtrak with our daughters. Elizabeth was in Brownie Troop 1307 and some of the activities included camping, cookie sales, and marching in a parade in Martinez. Her sister joined the troop as a first grader in the fall.
During the summer, we took a trip to Disneyland, probably as
part of a trip to the Nilsen Family Reunion.
Margaret’s photo was included in a Longs Drugs ad. Both girls had a photo in the newspaper for being a Super Citizen at school.
In the fall, Elizabeth had Mrs. Heyne and Margaret had Mrs.Toolie.
For Halloween, Elizabeth was a princess and Margaret a cowgirl. Christmas eve
was celebrated at my friend, Beth’s and the three of us wore matching dresses.
I am so glad for photo albums to help document our lives.
You have more 1997 photos than I found in my own stash. I love the First Communion photo. So cute!
ReplyDeleteIt seems I forgot a couple of others. I loved the time we had matching dresses.
