I have completed seventy-eight (78) weeks of semi- lock down due to Covid-19. This past week, I left the house to volunteer at the History Center twice, and to do phenology.
Genealogy
Blog Writing: I wrote two posts this week.
52 Ancestors—Week 36: Work—Fred J. Davey, From Machinist to Musician I wrote about my husband’s great-granduncle’s occupation, both as machinist in early life, and his later work as a musician.
Saturday Night Genealogy Fun—20 Years Ago . . . I wrote about what I remember about 9-11 twenty years ago.
Online Study Groups &
Meetings Attended:
I with my AppGen partners for our weekly planning meeting. Our four Amigos met
on Tuesday and heard news from Linda and Stewart. I was late to my peer group
on Friday but got in the discussion on chapter 11 in Mastering Genealogical
Documentation.
Webinars & Classes Attended:
I attended no classes or webinars.
Client Work/Presentations:
I presented to the Contra Costa County Genealogical Society “Finding Records to
Help Document Your Farming Ancestor.” I got a request to do if for a Minnesota
society. I finished the prep work for the AppGen course and began working on
the adult school intermediate course.
Volunteer & Own Work:
We are still rearranging the
books in the new library at the History Center. Ben has been a big help and
will continue while I’m on vacation.
Other:
This
week I continued watching the US Open tournament and the San Francisco Giants.
Tennis this year has been very exciting. Looking forward to seeing the two
teenage women play in the future.
I attended the Coast Division Zoom meeting and there was interesting discussion on future presentations. I also submitted my director’s report for the upcoming PCR board meeting, that I might miss.
I continued working in the garden, raking away old leaves and preparing plants for the next few weeks. I also went to an outdoor yoga class and immediate was bit three times by mosquitos. The yoga class was nice, though, with the birds and squirrels active in the trees above us.
I’m
reading the following books. I have been on a roll, finishing one book a week.
- Girl
Waits with a Gun by Amy Stewart—Finished!
- Death at La Fenice by Donna Leon
Photos
for this week:
Some flowers from my walks this week.
Genealogists are great at documenting our ancestors’ lives but not so great documenting our own. I’ll write about what I’ve been doing the past week. This idea came from Randy Seaver of Genea-Musing, who started this meme.
