I am very interested in the family members who never had
children. There is no one to remember them.
Ida Marie Colmann, formerly Ida Marie Hork, lived in Los
Angeles area for many years after the death of her husband Martin J. Colmann on
17 December 1908. She never remarried and lived alone most of her life.
In November 1947, Ida spent the winter with her sister,
Carrie Hork, at the Grube apartment, and with her brother, Anthony Hork and
family.[1]
She likely stayed as in March 1949, a newspaper article mentioned she had moved
to Hamilton from Los Angeles a year and a half ago. That same month she was
visiting Missoula at the Hotel Florence for an indefinite stay.[2]
However, in October 1949, Carrie Hork left for Long Beach, California, to be with her sister, Ida Marie Colmann, who was ill. She was accompanied by her brother, Anthony and his wife.[3] She and Ida returned to Missoula later that month.[4]
In March 1950, Ida recently moved to Missoula following a
stay in Hamilton. Her sister, Carrie spent a week helping her get settled.[5]
By late May 1950, Ida was ill again. She was first in a
hospital in Missoula, but was brought to Daly hospital by her sister, Carrie,
and brother, Anthony.[6]
Early on the morning of 30 May, she died from cerebral hemorrhage. The doctor,
Donald A. Gordon, attended her from 24 May.[7]
Her funeral was held at St. Francis Catholic church in the
morning of 1 June. The Reverend Father M.J. Donohue conducted the services and
family members Marvin Hart, George Hart, Ivan Nelson, Richard Hork, George
Stewart, and George Hieronymus were the pallbearers.[8]
Marvin and George Hart were the sons of her deceased sister
Susan. Ivan was the husband of her niece, Dolores Hart. Richard was the son of
her brother, Anthony. George Stewart was the husband of Anthony’s daughter,
Marian. And George Hieronymus was brother of Anthony’s son, Richard’s wife,
Juanita.
Her siblings who survived her were Carrie M. Hork and
Anthony Hork, who live locally, and Urselle Schwalen of Tacoma, Washington, and
Cyril Hork, of Los Angeles, who both came to attend the funeral.[9]
She was buried at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton, Montana,
next to her family.
